Cryogenic gas plant’s functioning is based on the process cycle of Linde Claude, which was developed in 1930s and has since been updated many times. Oxygen is cooled to -183 C and nitrogen is cooled t0 -196 C. Afterwards, the mixture of oxygen and nitrogen is directed to the bottom of fractionating column. When liquid oxygen boils, it rises to the top of the fractionating column and is removed for storage. And, oxygen settles at the bottom of the column.
